Gogol Bordello

Not too long ago, I wrote about Parno Graszt, a legitimate gypsy band from Hungary. Today, I intend to write about an illegitimate gypsy band, Gogol Bordello. They do incredibly funky gypsy music, but they're located in New York, and they perform mostly in English, making them about a billion times more accessible. I tracked down their first album, Voi-La Intruder. I think the first song of theirs I had ever heard was Start Wearing Purple. Incidentally, it was also one of their biggest hits and the song that my sister showed me yesterday, kicking off my sudden re-interest in them. It's a great song from a great band.
